As part of its commitment to transparency, the Manteca Police Department is opening its doors to the public for a closer look at its specialized equipment. In an announcement on social media, the department detailed plans for an upcoming event tomorrow from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Manteca City Council Chambers, located at 1001 W. Center St. The event, as they highlighted, follows the guidelines set forth by Assembly Bill 481, which requires law enforcement agencies to publicly display and report on certain equipment each year. The Manteca Police Department states this effort is to foster a well-informed community dialogue.
During the showcase, citizens are encouraged to ask questions and witness the "tools approved for our department," said the Manteca Police Department in the social media post. They made a point to note that while the MPD is not a participant in the Military Surplus Program (10-33), the initiative is a significant part of their outreach and engagement with the people they serve.
Community members are the heart of Manteca, and their involvement in these conversations is something the PD holds in high regard. "We encourage all community members to attend and be part of the conversation," stressed the MPD in their post.
