The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has enlarged its team with the hiring of Mariah Dunlop as its new Public Affairs Officer, tasked with serving East Tennessee communities, as disclosed by TBI Newsroom. Dunlop, coming from an educational background with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Communications and a Master’s of Business Administration, will take on the role of enhancing the TBI's relationships with the public and media.
Before her latest appointment, Dunlop carved out a professional journey that began on the streets as a patrol officer and investigator with the Chattanooga Police Department, lasting six years, before transitioning to serve as Executive Assistant to the President at Bryan College, her alma mater. Announced today, she brings her dual expertise in law enforcement and communication to the forefront of the Public Affairs Division.
"I'm honored to join the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Public Affairs Division and contribute to the important work being done across the state," Dunlop said. Equipped with her experience and education, she aims to "foster strong community relationships and serve the people of East Tennessee with integrity and dedication," according to a statement obtained by TBI Newsroom.
The specific responsibilities of Dunlop include providing media and public relations support to Judicial Districts 9 through 14 and 31, exemplifying dedication to strengthening the bond with nearly two dozen local counties. Other regions remain under the care of existing public affairs officers: Josh DeVine and Carley Gordon will continue covering the Middle region, with Kim Wheeler in West Tennessee, and Leslie Earhart will retain her position overseeing the Upper East region.
