In a significant boost to Marysville's law enforcement capabilities, the Marysville Police Department has proudly announced receiving a $40,840 grant aimed at curbing alcohol-related harm. This sum, bestowed by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), is part of a wider initiative under the ABC's Alcohol Policing Partnership (APP) program that has doled out grants to nearly 50 law enforcement bodies across California.
ABC's initiative seeks to not only mitigate alcohol-related offenses but also to manifest a more profound impact on the community quality of life. The APP program, which took its first steps in 1995, is geared to effectively keep alcohol out of minors' hands and to prevent the drought of harm often trailing in the wake of alcohol abuse. The grant is set to specifically target the prevention of alcohol sales to minors, deter noticeably intoxicated individuals from acquiring more alcohol, clamp down on illegal solicitations of alcohol, and combat related illegal activities, such as drug trafficking, as reported by the Marysville Police Department.
Through the APP program, local law enforcement can work more closely with ABC agents to strengthen enforcement of state alcohol laws. With the help of grant funds, they plan to carry out sting operations and educational programs to reduce alcohol-related incidents.
