A high-speed chase involving Memphis Police ended in Southaven with the arrest of a 20-year-old man who earlier evaded a Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) trooper and was also associated with running a chop shop. Kenneth Berry was apprehended last Thursday, as confirmed by WREG, and faces multiple charges including felony for evading arrest, reckless driving, and driving without a license.

During his pursuit of Berry, a THP trooper saw him driving a gray Camaro at speeds 25 mph over the limit, weaving through traffic, as per information by FOX13 Memphis. Despite attempts to pull Berry over, he took an exit ramp, temporarily evading the trooper but under surveillance by an air unit. The chase resumed, with Berry reportedly driving in oncoming traffic and exceeding 100 mph on East Mallory Avenue.

Following the chase, the Camaro was located at a home on Charter Oak Drive in Southaven where Berry had sought refuge. Southaven Police responding to the air unit's tracking of the vehicle made the eventual arrest. "We are fully prepared to protect our community from any criminal activity that attempts to spill across our county line," said DeSoto County Sheriff Thomas E. Tuggle II, addressing the incident and the heightened law enforcement presence, FOX13 Memphis reports.

Further complicating matters, Berry has a prior record. According to Action News 5, Berry is accused of operating a chop shop in Memphis, dismantling stolen cars. The recent chase has therefore added theft of property and violation of the chop shop law to his charges. No court date has been set yet, and details about Berry's bond remain unavailable.
