A car chase that started in Memphis crossed state lines into Southaven on Tuesday evening, resulting in a large-scale search for one of the two suspects who managed to evade capture. According to Action News 5, Memphis Police Department (MPD) alongside Southaven police pursued a stolen vehicle, which was forcibly stopped in the area of Rasco Hills Drive and Horn Lake Road.

The pursuit began around 7 p.m. when MPD officers attempted take two suspects into custody at an Exxon gas station off Horn Lake Road and South Third Street. One suspect is currently in custody, while the other fled on foot and remains at large, as detailed by Local Memphis. Officers had identified the car as stolen, but were met with resistance when the suspects rammed into a law enforcement vehicle, narrowly missing officers before speeding away.

The involved law enforcement agencies were able to chase the stolen car until it stopped in Southaven, at which point both suspects abandoned the car and fled on foot, according to WREG. An anonymous Southaven woman reported to Action News 5 that she witnessed a man, potentially one of the suspects, jumping her fence in a bid to escape. However, it remains unclear if this man was the suspect who has been captured or the one that is still on the run.

MPD continues to investigate the offenses that occurred in Memphis, while Southaven PD is assisting with the search and broader investigation efforts. "One other suspect remains at large. Their description has not been released," reported Action News 5.

Meanwhile, WREG has reached out to the Southaven Police Department but has not received a report yet. The authorities are asking anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH or the Southaven Police Department at 662-393-8652.
