Memphis is set to host a duo of significant community events as Cities United leads a nationwide effort to address public safety with local insight and collaboration. The "Leading the Way Tour 2025" is engaging communities nationwide and will be in Tennessee tomorrow, as per the city's announcement. The Gaisman Community Center will host workshops and discussions throughout the afternoon and evening focused on redefining public safety from the ground up.
The first event of the day, the Roadmap Academy Bootcamp, kicks off from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and promises to equip community and system leaders with the necessary frameworks and strategies to foster safer neighborhoods. According to the City of Memphis, the bootcamp will delve into a SWOT analysis tailored to Memphis's landscape, offer training on community violence intervention, and present a Narrative Change Toolkit for effective local storytelling. City officials, youth leaders, and public health experts will engage in this crucial dialogue, with visuals and interviews capturing the proactive engagement.
The efforts will continue into the evening with the Leading the Way Community Dinner starting at 5:30 p.m., serving as both a networking opportunity and a brainstorming session. For two hours, community members will come together for youth-led dialogues and discussions focused on developing actionable solutions to reduce violence. This initiative involves collaboration across various sectors to strengthen the local public safety system, the City of Memphis reports.
