Last week, Minnesota State University, Mankato, became a hub for interactive safety learning as local police and firefighters engaged with students during the Safety Expo.
Details from a social media post by Mankato Police and Fire showcase the hands-on experiences offered, including demonstrations on bike and traffic safety, and even a cooking fire simulator. The officers and firefighters were on hand, not just to show gadgets and gear but to open up dialogues and build bridges with the younger crowd.
“Our police officers and firefighters enjoyed connecting with students at the Minnesota State University, Mankato Safety Expo last week,” the post read. Students at the event were able to board a traffic safety truck and police bike, getting a more personal look at the tools used in keeping public safety a foremost priority.
Notably, the department expressed gratitude towards the university, “Thank you to @Minnesota State University, Mankato for hosting such an engaging event — and to all the students who stopped by to chat!” This initiative is a testament to the continuing efforts being put forth by local institutions to not only maintain safety but also to ensure that the community feels included and informed about the processes that aim to preserve their well-being.
