Relief flooded through the community of Shelby County as Jaqueline Jones, a 59-year-old woman missing since Wednesday, was found safe in Memphis. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, which had issued a Silver Alert in hopes of locating Jones, confirmed the news on social media. Their message, brief yet full of gratitude, read, "UPDATE: Jaqueline Jones, the subject of a #TNSilverAlert, was found safe in Memphis. Thanks for helping us spread the word!" according to a post on their Facebook page.
Prior to her disappearance, Jones, who requires a wheelchair for mobility, was last seen in the 500 block of Washington Avenue. Her medical condition, which may impair her ability to return safely without assistance, heightened concerns for her well-being. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation urged the public to keep an eye out and to report any sightings to the Memphis Police Department at 901-545-2677 or TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND – a plea that was critical in the effort to locate Jaqueline.
Residents who want to learn more about the Silver Alert program or prepare for future situations are encouraged by the TBI to download the TBI Find App, available through a link on their Facebook page. The app helps share information quickly about endangered adults across the state.
