Monroe Police have apprehended a local woman, Amber Nabia Gingham, 38, for her role in a fatal drug overdose that claimed the life of Johnny Reyes-Matos earlier this year. According to a statement from the Monroe Police Department, Gingham was charged with Death By Distribution following an investigation into the July 20 incident, where Reyes-Matos was found unresponsive at a residence on Caleb Street.
Responding to a 911 call at 7:11 a.m., lifesaving efforts to revive the victim failed, with Reyes-Matos subsequently pronounced dead due to an overdose. In the aftermath of the investigation, it was Amber Gingham who was identified as the supplier of the narcotics resulting in Reyes-Matos's death. Pursuing a slew of evidence and leads, authorities issued an arrest warrant, captured Gingham yesterday, and she is now detained in Union County Detention Center.
At her arrest time, the backdrop formed by multiple felony drug charges pending from an August narcotics probe at Gingham's home. Gingham faces charges that range from maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances to possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver, including cocaine and marijuana, plus the possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance within a jail facility.
