Early this morning tragedy struck in west Las Vegas as a moped rider sustained critical injuries following a crash. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported the incident just after 1:30 a.m. near the junction of Sahara Avenue and Fort Apache Road, as noted in FOX5 Vegas.
The rider, identified as 32-year-old Emilio Johnson of Las Vegas, was travelling west on Sahara Avenue when his moped hit the center median and overturned, according to the authorities. The collision ejected Johnson from the vehicle and left him with life-threatening injuries. He was promptly taken to an area hospital, where his condition is currently being monitored.
When the LVMPD officers arrived at the scene, they found the injured Johnson alongside the moped lying in the roadway. The initial reports from LVMPD mistakenly described the vehicle involved as a motorcycle, a detail that was later corrected, and the investigation is ongoing to determine the full scope of the events that led to this somber incident, as reported by News 3LV.
