In a precautionary move to protect consumers, the Ice Cream Factory of Mount Vernon has issued a recall for specific batches of their Vanilla G.Nutt ice cream sold in New York. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the product might contain undeclared almonds, posing a potential threat to individuals with allergies to tree nuts. The presence of the undeclared nuts could trigger a serious or even life-threatening allergic reaction.

The affected ice cream was sold in pint, quart, and half-gallon sizes. Each size has its own distinct UPC code, clearly stated on the back label of the container: pints with 8 56781 00361 3, quarts with 8 56781 00362 0, and half-gallons holding the code 8 56781 00363 7. According to PIX11 News, all products carry an expiration date of March 2027, and were distributed to Golden Krust stores in Mount Vernon and White Plains as well as Farm Country Supermarket in Queens.

So far, there have been no reported illnesses. The error came to light during a routine check that revealed a "temporary breakdown in the company's production and packaging processes," according to the FDA. This suggests the recall was prompted by internal quality control measures rather than external incidents or customer complaints.

Consumers who may have purchased the Vanilla G.Nutt ice cream from the specified locations are urged to return it to the point of sale for a full refund or to exchange it for a different flavor.
