The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a weather forecast for the upcoming week, providing a mix of mostly sunny skies and the occasional chance of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures are predicted to hover in the upper 80s to low 90s, with humidity levels suggesting sticky days ahead.
A 30 percent chance of rain is expected to break the heat today, specifically between 1pm and 3pm. "Mostly sunny, with a high near 88," the report states, indicating a mild reprieve for residents looking to cool off. The winds, coming from the east at 5 to 10 mph, could give that faint breeze everyone's been hoping for, albeit still trapped in this waterlogged air.
Things should start to dry up tonight, as the forecast calls for "Mostly clear, with a low around 74," according to the National Weather Service. The calm in the evening will no doubt provide some comfort to those sitting on their porches trying to catch a break from the indoor heat.
As we head into the latter part of the week, the sunny dominance continues with the National Weather Service predicting a "high near 91" for Thursday, while Friday's temperatures are expected to notch up even higher. The evenings will follow suit with "calm winds" and slight warmth that presumably hangs in the air, settling at around 76 to 77 degrees in the low.
The weekend isn't shying away from this pattern either, with "Mostly sunny" conditions forecasted and Saturday aiming for a high near 93. Given, without fanfare, Sunday might tease a "slight chance of showers and thunderstorms," it'll mainly stick to its sunny disposition with temperatures around 90 degrees during the day, tempering only slightly to a "low around 75" at night.
