The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) has presented the public with a unique opportunity to engage in a state-wide initiative. The snowplow naming contest, featuring submissions by K-12 students, has now entered its voting phase. The contest, which will result in names for 24 snowplows, is running from yesterday through Friday, as reported by OKC FOX.
Contestants have submitted names such as "Snow Problem" and "Clearopathra" as part of an effort to name state snowplows, reflecting a range of creative entries from Oklahoma students. Once winners are announced on Oct. 10, the selected snowplows will be available for virtual tracking. According to a KOCO report, the new tracking site is set to launch on Oct. 27.
In a statement obtained by FOX23, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation highlighted the purpose of the contest, stating that "this contest is a fun way to connect students and families to that mission, while letting Oklahomans put their own stamp on the snowplows they see clearing roads in their communities." The voting process involves each of the eight ODOT field districts choosing their top finalists, which are now open for public voting.
