The Oklahoma State Fair began yesterday, featuring attractions ranging from rides to the Piccolo Zoppé Circus. According to News on 6, the circus, which dates back to 1842, offers performances with European flair and has been a family tradition for generations.
As part of the opening-day events, organizers launched Celebrate OK! to honor the 24th anniversary of 9/11 and America’s 250th birthday. The Oklahoman reported that the fair offered reduced gate admission and ride armbands for the occasion. Tinker Federal Credit Union hosted events from noon to 6 p.m., including a Salute to Heroes featuring local first responders and military units.
New attractions include the Sky Eye Wheel, described as North America’s largest traveling Ferris wheel, and Disney on Ice at the OKC Fairgrounds. Food options, interactive booths, and themed rides will be available through September 21 at Northwest 10th Street and May Avenue.
According to KOCO, ticket prices are $16 for ages 12 and over, $10 for ages 6-11, and free for children under 5. The fair also features several discount days, including Senior Day, College Night, and Military Monday.
