The Oklahoma Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Governor Kevin Stitt’s executive order requiring most state employees to return to government offices. The 8-1 decision supports the order, which was issued in December 2024 and includes exceptions for part-time employees and those facing office space limitations.
According to the Office of Governor J. Kevin Stitt website, the order is intended to ensure public servants perform their duties in person.
The lawsuit challenging the order was filed by State Representative Andy Fugate, who argued for maintaining remote work policies established during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Governor Stitt stated that taxpayers should know public servants are working in person and providing services directly.
With this ruling, most state employees who were working remotely must return to physical offices.
