The Phoenix Fire Department is stepping up its game with the rollout of a new Telehealth program that's shaking things up in emergency medical services. As of recently, some 911 callers in non-emergency situations are now getting patched through to real ER doctors without ever having to step foot in an ambulance, as reported by the City of Phoenix.

Callers who use 911 for non-emergency situations may soon be connected with an ER doctor within minutes, a move officials say will help ease the burden on emergency services and hospitals. At the close of the call, individuals can also be directed to care coordination resources for follow-up assistance, as per the City of Phoenix.

Michael Guadan, MD, Ally's VP of Partner Success, is hyped about the continued partnership. He told the City of Phoenix, "Together, we aim to enhance our telehealth process, helping low-acuity 911 callers gain better access to care for everyone in the Phoenix community." He added, "This ongoing collaboration strengthens our relationship, optimizes resource use, and collectively promotes better health outcomes."
