Placer County residents in West Placer can look forward to improved public safety services and more efficient county operations with the addition of a new sheriff's station and county service center. The expansion, featuring facilities in Rocklin at 5700 and 5750 West Oaks Boulevard, is designed to better serve the growing communities of Rocklin, Roseville, Lincoln, Loomis, and surrounding areas. The new sheriff’s station at 5750 West Oaks Boulevard will begin limited patrols tomorrow, aiming to improve response times and offer walk-in services such as records requests, crime reporting, and civil filings, as reported by ABC10.
"As the population in West Placer continues to grow, it's essential that our public safety infrastructure grows with it," Placer County Sheriff Wayne Woo said in a Facebook post, according to KOLO TV. Woo highlighted that "The new West Placer Sheriff’s Station represents a proactive and thoughtful investment in the future of this community, ensuring we're not simply responding to increased demand, but planning ahead to provide timely, effective service." The facilities will not include jail services or cater to registered sex offenders, who will continue to be processed at existing jail locations in South Placer and Auburn.
Notably, adjacent to the sheriff’s station at the same site, Placer County’s first forensic crime lab is currently in the planning stages. This lab, when operational, is set to expedite evidence processing for the Sheriff's Office, the District Attorney's Office, and city police departments within the region. "The addition of a modern crime lab in West Placer will be a game-changer for our criminal justice system," stated District Attorney Morgan Gire, as per ABC10. The lab also holds the potential of extending forensic services to neighboring counties, which could both serve as a revenue source for Placer County and cement its standing as a frontrunner in crime lab services.
The second facility at 5700 West Oaks Boulevard is projected to open its doors in mid-2026 and will house a county service center offering access to the Assessor’s Office, and Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office, alongside Revenue Services Division. It will also include a district office for District 3 Supervisor Anthony DeMattei, thus drawing government closer to the constituents. The Board of Supervisors has approved a $1.18 million investment to adapt both buildings to their new purposes, encompassing costs for technology, security improvements, unique safety systems for the sheriff’s station, and other related expenses.
As West Placer prepares for considerable development, including over 10,000 new homes in the next decade, these additions are part of the county's extended strategy to keep pace with the escalating growth and to ensure that residents maintain convenient access to essential services and public safety measures.
