The Town of Queen Creek Parks and Recreation Department has renewed its Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designation, confirmed by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). This designation reflects the department’s ongoing work to improve accessibility for individuals on the autism spectrum.

Staff across the department completed training on best practices for supporting individuals with autism. According to a Town of Queen Creek news release, the CAC designation also includes the installation of inclusive play equipment and rubber surfacing at parks such as Mansel Carter Oasis Park and Frontier Family Park.

IBCCES Board Chairman Myron Pincomb noted the partnership’s focus on enhancing access for autistic and sensory-sensitive individuals. Testimonials from department employees, shared in the town’s news article, describe how the training increased staff confidence in creating inclusive experiences and understanding the specific needs of individuals with autism.

Queen Creek’s efforts are supported by tools such as the IBCCES Accessibility App, which helps individuals with disabilities identify certified destinations. Websites including CertifiedAutismCenter.com and AutismTravel.com provide additional information on certified locations. IBCCES has offered credentialing in autism and neurodiversity for over 20 years.
