Raleigh has taken a new step towards fostering community engagement and strengthening support networks with the launch of the Community Cares Collaborative (CCC). The city-led initiative kicked off on September 19th with a significant turnout, drawing a crowd of over 70 leaders from local nonprofits and community organizations.
In an effort to streamline how assistance is provided to residents, the CCC aims to enhance the coordination among different agencies. According to a recent news release by the City of Raleigh, the event featured keynotes from Barron Damon and Bettie Murchison, who cast light on what funders are looking for in community programs. Furthermore, Joy Mikhail led a hands-on workshop focused on the 'Challenge → Cause → Connection' framework, guiding organizations in refining their communication with funders.
Feedback from those who attended indicates a resounding success, with post-event surveys showing unanimous agreement on increased awareness of collaboration opportunities. Participants defined the session as a valuable experience, as one attendee put it, "Great use of their time!"
Moreover, the exchange with peers and the opportunity to learn about other agencies were underscored as significant benefits of the gathering. The event seems to have yielded practical knowledge, with several attendees speaking to actionable insights that they can take back to their teams—a sentiment highlighted in the coverage by the City of Raleigh.
