Residents in the Lincoln Village area of Rancho Cordova can expect to see the beginnings of a traffic calming project aimed at enhancing safety and reducing speeds. Local residents had been clamoring for such improvements, and now, the city's Public Works team is gearing up to deliver. According to an update on the city's official website, the measures include a traffic circle at Lincoln Village Drive and Explorer Drive (West), complete with median islands, hardened centerlines, speed lumps, and bulb-outs.
Preliminary work is also set to commence, with marking out utilities and conducting soil testing among the preparatory tasks. "Temporary traffic control may be set up to allow workers to safely work within the roadways," as per the city's official website. While these initial steps are taken, drivers have been advised to exercise caution and to remain alert for more updates on the project.
Further south, the Sunrise Boulevard corridor stretching between Kiefer Boulevard and Douglas Road has been under construction, but relief is in sight with all pavement work now concluded. Over the coming weeks, crews will be busy with the finishing touches, adjusting utility covers and applying fresh road markings. This information comes directly from the city’s Public Works team as well.
During this phase, "there will be occasional lane closures on Sunrise Boulevard," as mentioned in the city's announcement, suggesting that motorists should plan to add some time to their travels and to follow construction signage when navigating the area. Despite the disruptions, access to the Anatolia neighborhood will remain available through Herodian Drive, Chyrsanthy Boulevard, Bosphorus Drive, and Justinian Drive, with the occasional detour. The project is on track to wrap up in October 2025.
