As the season turns, Renton is gearing up for a unique event that marries creativity with sustainability. Residents can get ready to give old costumes new life as the city encourages the donation of gently worn Halloween attire. According to an announcement on Renton’s official website, a costume swap is underway, designed to promote reusability and community spirit.
Those interested in donating can drop off their clean costumes, hats, masks, and accessories in a variety of sizes. Donations will be accepted from September 14 through September 26 during regular hours at multiple locations, including Renton Community Center, Renton Highlands Neighborhood Center, and Renton City Hall. Additionally, for those looking to donate early, a “Monster” bin is set to make its debut at the Renton Farmers Market on Tuesday, September 3, providing a convenient spot for early birds to contribute their items.
The event culminates on Saturday, September 27, when the community is invited to come out and select costumes and accessories for their family's upcoming Halloween festivities, at no cost. The swap event also features a photo area, giving everyone the perfect opportunity to show off their new finds and capture the memory. It’s worth noting that while donations are not a prerequisite for picking up a costume, the success of the swap relies on the generosity of participants.
