After nearly five months of uncertainty and thorough searches, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety has confirmed the identity of a deceased person found on San Francisco's Ocean Beach as 38-year-old Wen Hui Wu, a Rohnert Park man earlier reported missing. In an announcement released late last month, officials stated that Wu's identity was confirmed through DNA analysis by the California Department of Justice.
The search for Wu began in April when his vehicle was found in the Marin Headlands, a detail reported by the National Park Service and reiterated by the Marin County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team. They disclosed that the car had been parked since Tuesday afternoon. Authorities, alongside multiple agencies including the Southern Marin Water Rescue Team and the United States Coast Guard, conducted extensive searches over subsequent days. At the time, Wu was described as a 5'10" Asian male with black hair and brown eyes, wearing a dark blue T-shirt, dark blue pants, and a gray jacket, as Hoodline reported.
According to the recent press release by the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, a body was discovered by the United States Park Police on May 16, along the shoreline of Ocean Beach. The body, significantly decomposed, was taken into the custody of the San Francisco Medical Examiner, who attempted to identify the deceased and determine the cause of death.
