The City of Roswell has officially named Pabel Troche as the new Fire Chief for the Roswell Fire Department (RFD), solidifying his leadership role after serving as the Interim Fire Chief since earlier this year. The appointment comes in recognition of Troche's long-term investment in Roswell, a tenure spanning more than 20 years with a progression through various key positions such as EMS Director and Battalion Chief.
According to a recent City of Roswell's article, Mayor Wilson praised Chief Troche for leading "with both his heart and strategy," and expressed confidence in Troche's ability to maintain the high standards expected by Roswell residents. During his temporary leadership, Troche managed a $17 million budget, and a staff of over 150 employees, demonstrating his capacity for guiding the city's emergency services.
Troche has been instrumental in various strategic advancements within the RFD. His efforts include the transition to a full-time staffing model and the adoption of the 48/96 shift schedule aimed at improving firefighters' work-life balance. Moreover, he led RFD's participation in the Qwake Technologies Pioneer Program, which involved testing avant-garde safety tools aimed at enhancing firefighter safety.
With a Master of Public Administration in Organizational Leadership and Emergency Management Leadership, Troche holds multiple advanced fire service certifications. His dedication and service have not gone unnoticed, earning him multiple accolades such as Roswell Employee of the Year and Roswell Fire Department Officer of the Year. In a statement obtained by the City of Roswell, Chief Troche expressed that serving the community and the Roswell Fire Department is "a privilege I do not take lightly."
The Roswell Fire Department, under Chief Troche's command, operates seven fire stations, and maintains an ISO Class 2 rating. Backed by the 2022 Bond Program, Roswell is also upgrading its public safety infrastructure, with plans to construct a new Fire Station #27 to improve emergency response for the east side of the city.
