In an effort to provide clarity and transparency to the measures taken against the plight of homelessness, the City of Sacramento has published its latest data on the matter. The report details the activities carried out by the City’s Incident Management Team (IMT) from September 8 to 14, as they answer calls and address issues related to the city's unsheltered population.
During the reported week, Sacramento received 673 calls through its 311 customer service portal, a number which initiated some 1,907 "cases." According to Sacramento City Express, these figures do not represent redundant reports, but rather, a single call can lead to multiple cases being opened due to the complex nature of the issues at hand.
Out of the actions taken, 1,468 cases were resolved per the weekly progress update. The closures denote that the situations were either remedied or otherwise neutralized, marking progress in the ongoing battle against homelessness-related concerns.
The Department of Community Response conducted outreach efforts, successfully enrolling 96 individuals into shared local databases aimed at matching them with shelter and various necessary resources. Furthermore, 44 individuals found placement within the City's Roseville Road campus or the Outreach and Engagement Center (OEC), while a small number of accommodations - one Pallet home, two trailers, and multiple shelter spaces - remain available.
Environmental efforts also played a significant role in the latest IMT operations as the City was involved in the removal of 55,660 pounds of trash. This massive cleanup initiative highlights the intersecting challenges of homelessness and public health, and the City's commitment to addressing both. Continual updates and statistics on the City's efforts can be monitored through the publicly accessible IMT data dashboard, which includes cumulative data going back to September 2023.
