A San Antonio man, Roger Craig Vittitoe, has been arrested and faces stalking charges after allegedly harassing Lourdes McManus, the wife of San Antonio's Police Chief William McManus. According to an affidavit obtained by KENS 5, the suspect is accused of sending the victim over two dozen "harassing and obsessive" messages within three days. Some messages, aimed to contact her husband, were a response to an unsatisfactory outcome of a previous criminal case involving Vittitoe.

Arrested in Hidalgo County, investigators linked the barrage of communication to Vittitoe through a phone number registered in his name, while the suspect self-identified in several messages. Alongside the unwanted electronic communications, Vittitoe sent photographs to the victim, with a geolocation close to her home, which raised her anxiety over potential retaliation. As reported by KTSA, the suspect made continued attempts to contact her, although he had no legitimate reason to warrant such communication.

The stalking charges levied against Vittitoe could carry serious consequences. Online court records indicate that Vittitoe's bonds total $170,000. Chief McManus' wife reported to investigators that the incessant messaging caused her to feel alienated and fearful for her safety, as well as the safety of her family. A particularly disturbing message, detailed in the KENS 5 affidavit, read, "I gave you your 15-day notice. A few more days left. Hope you make the right decision."

Vittitoe is scheduled for a court appearance on December 9.
