
An unfortunate string of incidents rattled Charlotte over the weekend, leaving several people injured. On Saturday, a significant crash occurred on East WT Harris Boulevard, spanning the stretch between Albemarle Road and Hickory Grove Road. According to WCNC, eight individuals were victimized in the accident, with half of them sustaining serious injuries. The other four suffered minor injuries.
Conveyance of the injured was rapidly managed; Medic's MCI bus transported three victims with minor injuries to a local hospital, as reported by QC News. The details surrounding what led to the crash have yet to slowly emerge, leaving the local community in search of answers amid a climate of concern regarding roadway safety in the area.
In a separate incident late Friday evening, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on I-277 near Independence Boulevard. WBTV reports that the individual was hospitalized with serious injuries following the incident, which occurred around 10:30 p.m.
The exact circumstances that led to both the multi-vehicle crash and the pedestrian being hit remain under investigation. Officials are urging drivers to exercise caution and to consistently be aware of their surroundings to prevent such tragedies from further unfolding on Charlotte's roadways. Notably, the injured from Saturday's crash were stabilized, though efforts to thoroughly investigate to prevent similar incidents in the future are ongoing.
