Get ready for a new kind of stomach-dropping thrill as Six Flags Over Texas just announced a roller coaster that's set to smash world records. Dubbed the Tormenta Rampaging Run, it's slated to take the crown as the tallest, fastest, and longest giga dive coaster on the planet when it debuts in 2026. A giga coaster, for those not in the loop, is a class of roller coasters that are between 300 and 399 feet tall. Six Flags is promising a ride that will not only give you a bird's eye view of Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex but also the thrill of 95-degree drops, making you feel like you’re practically falling from the sky.

According to a press release by the City of Arlington, this behemoth of a coaster will feature six record-breakers, including a 309-foot-tall lift hill and a speed rush of 87 mph. Not to mention, it's also going to claim the tallest vertical loop at 179 feet and the highest Immelmann inversion, where riders go upside down at 218 feet above the ground. The Tormenta Rampaging Run seems destined to become a highlight for theme park enthusiasts looking for their next big thrill.

But the ride isn’t just about hard stats. The coaster comes as part of an expansive upgrade of the park's Spanish area, which will include a new immersive village called Rancho de la Tormenta and a new restaurant, Cocina Abuela. The village is designed to echo an old Spanish town, complete with culturally inspired cuisine to make your visit a full-blown cultural experience. Without a doubt, the flavors coming from Cocina Abuela aim to be as bold and memorable as the roller coaster itself.

Marking its 65th anniversary, Six Flags Over Texas is planning to make 2026 a milestone year, with the Tormenta Rampaging Run as a centerpiece celebration. "Six Flags Over Texas has always been a leader in creating unforgettable experiences, and with Tormenta Rampaging Run we are soaring to new heights," said Mark Boyer, VP and Park Manager for Six Flags Over Texas, in a statement that highlights the park's enduring legacy since it flung open its doors back in 1961, per the City of Arlington.
