
A high-speed crash into a power pole on the 1400 block of Day Road in Santa Clara County resulted in serious injury and an airlift for the solo driver. The incident, which occurred at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, was attended by the Santa Clara County Fire Department as emergency personnel navigated downed live power lines to reach the driver. According to a social media post by the fire department, the air ambulance was requested at 3:18 PM and was later provided by REACH Air Medical Services.
The Santa Clara County Fire Department emphasized the risks of high speeds and utility poles, noting that such accidents can lead to severe injuries and bring down dangerous power lines. They urge the public to heed speed limits, minimize distractions while driving, and consider all wires live in such situations. As the investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway by the CHP Coastal Division, the emphasis remains on road safety and the avoidance of similar incidents in the future.
