The City of St. Augustine is set to open the floodgates come October for applications to its Institutional Rehabilitation Grant Program, specifically aimed at giving a financial leg up to historic buildings in need of repair within the Lincolnville Community Redevelopment Area (LCRA). Starting from October 1, institutions occupying these storied spaces will have their shot at securing what has often been elusive funding to breathe new life into their structures, until the close of the year on December 31.
According to a recent announcement from the St. Augustine Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the grant program is targeting those historical edifices that are typically bypassed by conventional funding streams. Qualification is a matter of geography; the building must lie within the LCRA designated borders. The City St. Augustine's website now features a handy tool for institutions to check their eligibility by simply entering their address into the provided map.
The program offers support for preserving St. Augustine’s historic buildings, especially those in Lincolnville. Institutions can apply for grants to help maintain and restore their structures.
Details about how to apply and the full criteria are available in the CRA’s official announcement. The application deadline is at the end of the year.
