Commuters in St. Charles Parish may need to budget extra travel time come Wednesday. St. Charles Parish officials have announced that traffic disruptions on Ashton Plantation Blvd. are expected due to critical repair work on the railroad crossing joints.
Starting at 8:00 a.m., Thursday, one lane at a time will be closed on the boulevard to allow crews to work safely, affecting traffic in both directions over the course of the morning. The southbound lane is scheduled to close first, from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m., followed by the northbound lane, scheduled from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. During these hours, drivers will not be able to cross the railroad tracks at Ashton Plantation Blvd.
While the work will create temporary inconvenience, it is a necessary step to maintain the safety and infrastructure of the community's road system. Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes such as Hackberry St., which will remain open to traffic to ease congestion around the affected area.
All planned repairs are subject to favourable weather conditions, meaning if the sky opens up on Wednesday, don't be surprised if the work gets rescheduled. The repairs are part of the ongoing maintenance efforts to keep the parish's roadways in tip-top shape, and ensure that safety considerations keep pace with the wear, and tear of daily commutes.
Residents and visitors to the area should stay alert to updates on the road closure and plan their routes accordingly to avoid delays. For those needing to access businesses or homes along Ashton Plantation Blvd., it may be prudent to plan ahead and prepare for detours. The St. Charles Parish officials commit to completing the work swiftly with minimal disruption to the daily flow of life in the area.
