The individual hit was a 44-year-old man from Minneapolis. He was northbound on Texas Avenue when a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 58-year-old Lonsdale resident, struck him. The driver, who was buckled up at the time and unharmed, does not seem to have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash. Despite the efforts to quickly render aid, the survey worker was pronounced dead at the scene.

Several bystanders stopped to offer life-saving aid before the first responders arrived. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by local police, fire departments, an ambulance service, and the Minnesota State Patrol. An investigation into the accident is currently being conducted by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office, and the Minnesota State Patrol. The identity of the deceased will be positively confirmed by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
