The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed the arrest of a suspect linked to a disturbing burglary in West Hollywood that resulted in the death of a small dog. As reported by KTLA, Anmol Bhatia was apprehended on Sunday around 7 p.m. near Wilshire Boulevard and Elm Drive. The horrific incident took place earlier this month on September 4, when the suspect allegedly broke into a residence on North Harper Avenue.
Details surrounding the modalities of Bhatia's identification and arrest have not been disclosed by law enforcement. However, responding to a burglary call, deputies found the resident's deceased pet after the break-in. Surveillance footage from inside the victim's apartment, obtained by the LASD, showed the suspect carrying out a violent act on the animal, which ultimately led to its unresponsive condition, as per NBC Los Angeles.
Following the incident, Beverly Hills police were on alert for individuals matching the suspect's description. Bhatia was eventually detained under circumstances not yet made public. While it remains unclear if any other items were taken from the home during the offense, the loss of the resident's dog has been confirmed, highlighting the suspect's wanton cruelty. The investigation into the case continues, with detectives urging anyone with additional insights to come forward, as noted in an official bulletin by the Sheriff's Department.
As highlighted by WEHO Times, Bhatia faces felony charges and was scheduled for a court appearance on September 23. Authorities have solicited the community's help in piecing together this appalling crime, underscoring the collective role in justice and public safety.
