Mark your calendars and save the date, because Suwanee Fest is coming back with a Jurassic twist. Scheduled to take place on September 20 and 21, this festival, presented by Climate Heroes, aims to celebrate community spirit in Town Center Park from 9 am to 7 pm on Saturday, and 12 pm to 5 pm on Sunday, according to an announcement posted on Suwanee's official website.
The festivities will begin with the Suwanee Fest Parade at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with Dr. Mary Kay Murphy, a known advocate for public education, serving as the Grand Marshal. Over 200 vendors are expected to attend, offering a myriad of handmade goods, local businesses, nonprofits, and interactive exhibits. From local bands to Jurassic-themed attractions, the entertainment lineup promises variety and excitement for attendees of all ages. The full schedule of performances can be found on the festival's website.
A key feature of the festival is its Family Fun Zone, which includes a section sponsored by Gwinnett Church. Here, families can enjoy fossil digs, crafts, and STEM activities for no extra charge. Additionally, Paleo Prospectors will offer a new hands-on experience for kids interested in fossil hunting, while Youth on the Rise will showcase the talents and entrepreneurial spirits of individuals under 18.
Food options range from classic sweets like funnel cakes to international cuisines, ensuring that "there’s something for every raptor-sized appetite," as the event organizers put it. Alongside new features, Suwanee Fest welcomes back the Sensory Tent and Football fans can look forward to catching games in the Touchdown Tent, while pet owners will appreciate the Pet Shade area.
Because parking at Town Center will be off-limits during the event, free off-site shuttles are the recommended mode of transport. There are three shuttle locations: Brontosaurus Blue at Shadowbrook Church, Raptor Red at Shawnee North Business Center, and T-Rex Tan at Gwinnett Church. Although shuttles are scheduled to run throughout the festival, limited service is expected during the parade hours.
With no admission fee and a range of activities and attractions, the Suwanee Fest is shaping up to be a popular event. For more detailed information, organizers suggest visiting SuwaneeFest.com.
