A third man from Trumbull County faces charges in the wake of a fatal shooting at a Warren convenience store on Aug. 3. Sean King, 37, already with a criminal record from 2022 involving narcotics, has been indicted on charges of illegal ammunition possession, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio.
Joining King in the indictment are Jumal Ellis Rowe, 32, and Rayjon Ray McElroy, 25, both from Warren, Ohio and facing similar firearms charges. The allegations follow an early morning dispute outside the Convenient Food Mart that reportedly escalated, leading to gunfire and resulting in one death and another person injured. The indictment came from a federal grand jury, based on the findings from the Warren Police Department and the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office.
According to surveillance footage, several individuals, including the now-indicted men, appeared to gather for a dice game that devolved into a confrontation and then a shooting in the store's parking area. This tragic episode led to swift law enforcement response and a subsequent investigation by the ATF Youngstown Field Office, in addition to local authorities.
If convicted, King, Rowe, and McElroy could face up to 15 years in federal prison, with the actual sentence being contingent upon several case-specific factors, including their past criminal activities, their roles in the offense, and the nature of this crime, the U.S Department of Justice statement said.
An indictment is a formal charge, not a proof of guilt, and all defendants have the right to a fair trial where the government bears the burden of proving their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. This case falls under the prosecutorial jurisdiction of Assistant U.S. Attorneys Yasmine Makridis and Kevin E. Bringman.
