Heads up, Columbia drivers: a signal snafu is on the horizon. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), if you're cruising through the intersection of Missouri Routes 740 and 163—that's Stadium Boulevard and Providence Road—for you non-map aficionados, you'll want to pencil in a slight detour, or at least a slowdown, come midnight on Thursday, Sept. 25. The traffic signals will be going dark for a few hours as crews dive in for a signal cabinet upgrade.
We're talking a full stop—literally. Stop signs will take the place of signals in all directions while MoDOT works their magic. The plan is for things to get back to the 21st century by 6 a.m. that day; meanwhile, all lanes should stay open, but here's your friendly reminder to keep those peepers peeled and give the crews some breathing room.
To be on the safe side, MoDOT's not taking any chances with Mother Nature, or her fickle moods. They've made it clear that all work is weather-permitting, and yeah, schedules might get shuffled around if the skies decide to throw a tantrum. So let's all do our part, buckle up and keep the phone down.
Moving through work zones can be a little like navigating a minefield, minus the high stakes. It's a game of patience and attention—so take it slow, respect the orange signs, and maybe, just maybe, we can all get through this without any scuffed bumpers or frayed nerves. MoDOT's got a simple request: "work with us by buckling up, putting your phone down, obeying all traffic signs, and slowing down, and moving over in work zones." So Columbia, let's show 'em we're up to the task, shall we?
