Motorists planning to travel along northbound Interstate 795 in Baltimore County this weekend should be aware that repair work will be causing lane closures, potentially leading to delays. Starting from 9 p.m. tomorrow, through to early next Monday morning, two left lanes between the I-695 Baltimore Beltway and Owings Mills Boulevard will be shut down as part of an ongoing concrete pavement repair, according to Fox Baltimore.
The closures will help ensure the newly poured concrete has adequate time to cure and undergo necessary testing. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) has announced that the southbound side of I-795 will remain open, free from repairs this weekend. While the Maryland State Highway Administration has recommended Reisterstown Road as a detour option, drivers are advised to plan their journeys with the expected slowdowns in mind, especially as the two left lanes will stay closed off to traffic even when no workers are present on site, as per WBALTV's report.
This effort is the culmination of the SHA's $8.5 million contract aimed at enhancing safety and operations along interstate highways in the Baltimore and Harford counties. The repair work is being managed by Timonium-based contractor Gray & Son, Inc., which is setting up temporary signage and traffic cones to guide motorists passing through the affected region.
