As the Twin Cities gears up for an infrastructural enhancement, Metro Transit is slated to commence light rail vehicle (LRV) testing this fall, laying the groundwork for the 2027 debut of the Green Line Extension—a link aspiring to connect St. Louis Park to Eden Prairie. A safety video, marking the first of many, has been released, drawing attention to the testing that will test everything from electrical systems to crossing warning lights, Metro Transit announced.
Moving forward, Minnesota eyes an ecological triumph—the state's Pollution Control Agency is now accepting applications for grants aimed at boosting organics recycling. This initiative strikes at the heart of waste reduction, targeting organics, which represent approximately 31% of municipal waste. The deadline for proposals via the SWIFT Supplier Portal is 4 p.m. CT on September 25, 2025, as confirmed by the grant's official page.
In an effort to fortify the rental market with knowledge and responsibility, the city has organized an online rental license training set for two half-day sessions on October 21 and 22. Landlords and property managers, particularly new license holders, are urged to attend. Essential topics, including fair housing, racial equity, and city policies, will be discussed, emphasizing the importance of creating an inclusive and regulated rental landscape, as shared on the City of St. Louis Park's website.
Meanwhile, further educational resources are extended via a free legal training session also scheduled on October 21. Attorney Robin Ann Williams will lead the course, covering landlord-tenant law and providing bias training—imperative for fostering a fair and equitable housing environment. Interested parties who've previously completed the city’s required rental license training are encouraged to register; details of which can be found on the city's portal.
