It’s a significant financial boost for students with intellectual disabilities, as Congressman Steve Cohen announced a substantial grant awarded to the University of Memphis. In a recent release on Congressman Cohen’s official website, he revealed that the institution will receive $409,605 from the U.S. Department of Education’s Transition and Postsecondary Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities.

The University of Memphis will receive a total of $922,311 through three federal grants to expand educational opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities. In a statement, Congressman Steve Cohen said, “The University of Memphis continues to lead in pathways to academic success for those students with intellectual disabilities. This funding will support that effort and lead the brighter futures for deserving students.”

The grants will be used to strengthen programs that support inclusive postsecondary education, enhance the learning environment, and provide more opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities.
