Mid-Missouri drivers should expect potential impacts on their commute due to planned highway maintenance and construction work scheduled for September 15-21. MoDOT advises that weather conditions may affect the schedule, and lane closures and delays are possible in several counties.

County by county, expect routine pothole repairs and mowing operations. In Boone County, Route NN will have pavement repairs with a lane closure from September 16-18, while Route TT continues improvements to pedestrian facilities. Columbia will see reduced traffic flow due to roundabout construction at the intersection of Route K and Old Plank Road, ongoing until December. A section of U.S. Route 63, a key route in and out of Columbia, is reduced to a one-lane, two-way configuration until next October. Additionally, pavement work on I-70 is ongoing as part of the larger Improve I-70 Program, with completion expected in 2027.

In Callaway County, resurfacing on Route J may require drivers to follow a pilot car through the work zone. Camden County will experience lane closures on several routes due to pavement striping and resurfacing. In Cole County, Route C will undergo pavement repairs on the 15, so drivers should plan accordingly. Several bridge projects along U.S. Route 54 will result in narrowed lanes and occasional closed access points throughout the fall.

Rural areas including Crawford and Dent Counties will have culvert replacements and roadside work affecting routes such as Missouri Route 8 and Route CC. In Laclede County, striping work on Route 5 will continue with one lane open and a 10-foot width restriction in place. In Miller and Moniteau Counties, bridge repairs will result in closures, including a full closure of Route U in Moniteau County during work on the Howard Creek bridge.
