Pinstripes Holdings, Inc., a purveyor of upscale bowling and dining experiences, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in a turn of events that signals trouble in the leisure industry. As a result, less than a year after its highly anticipated opening, the Pinstripes location in Walnut Creek's bustling Broadway Plaza has closed, as KTVU reported. The shutdown caught patrons and employees by surprise and marks one of 10 nationwide locations to cease operations.
The local favorite for various age groups had only recently started to ingrain itself within the community, offering spaces for company events, birthday celebrations, and casual hangouts. "I’m really super bummed. It’s one of my favorite places to hang out in Walnut Creek," Peter Johnson, a regular customer, told KTVU. Umberto Leone, another local who witnessed the alley's impact on the area, reminisced on the inclusivity of the establishment, saying, "It’s one of the places in Walnut Creek that somebody who is 16 or somebody who is 70 could go to together."
While this closure leaves a void in Walnut Creek's entertainment offerings, Pinstripes assured customers that their desires will remain accommodated. The San Mateo location will honor all gift cards and deposits, and the company stands firm in its commitment to hospitality. "We are grateful for your continued trust and understanding, and remain committed to delivering the hospitality and experiences you’ve come to know and love," Pinstripes further noted in the Instagram post.
