Last Thursday, a Vallejo neighborhood was gripped by fear as a prowler attempted to break into homes. Vallejo Police Department's Patrol Division responded to a distress call around 1:20 a.m. from residents near Caldwell Avenue and Concord Street, where reports indicated a man was trying to force entry into several residences.
One incident on the 100 block of Concord Street saw a suspect attempt to push into a home just as an unsuspecting homeowner opened the door. Fortunately, the occupants thwarted the intrusion and secured their door, barring the suspect's entry. Another report from a home on the 1000 block of Caldwell Avenue described a man, fitting a similar description, assaulting her front door and windows, and tampering with the doorknob using an unidentified tool.
Vallejo Police were swift to act, cordoning off the area and apprehending a suspect near the scene who matched the victim's descriptions. According to the Vallejo Police Department's social media post, the victims positively identified the suspect during an in-field line-up. Subsequently, the individual was taken into custody and faced prowling charges, as confirmed by local authorities.
The recent arrest has prompted Vallejo officers to emphasize home security measures to residents. The key suggestions were ensuring that all potential entryways are locked tight and verifying who is at the door before granting entry. Moreover, the importance of notifying law enforcement without delay was highlighted in case of any questionable activity. The suspect now awaits legal procedures at the Solano County Jail.
