The Contra Costa District Attorney's Office has officially charged 43-year-old Howard Wang with the murders of his wife, Linlin Guo, and mother-in-law, Beimin Cheng, which took place last Thursday. According to a release from the Contra Costa County website, Wang is set to be arraigned at 1:30 PM today in Contra Costa Superior Court in Martinez, facing the possibility of life imprisonment without parole if convicted, due to special circumstances enhancements for multiple murders.
Earlier, the Walnut Creek Police Department had to swiftly intervene when officers responded to a 911 call concerning possible gunfire around 11:45 PM on the night of the crime. Wang was arrested and currently remains detained without bail at the Martinez Detention Facility. "This tragic case is a stark reminder of the devastating toll domestic violence takes — not only on the victims whose lives were lost, but on families and the community as a whole," Contra Costa District Attorney Diana Becton said, per the Contra Costa County website. Additional charges include making criminal threats and preventing the report of a crime.
The Hoodline report highlights the involvement of the Concord Police Department and the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff in a collaborative investigation effort that has yielded swift action, ensuring no further threat to the public.
