In the early hours of September 13th, a commercial burglary at 2 Connector Road triggered a law enforcement response that has since led to an arrest. The Westborough Police Department announced they were called to the scene following an alarm activation, and upon arrival, officers discovered a forced entry with various items missing from the premises.
The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Westborough Police Detective Bureau, along with the on-the-ground support by the responding officers, the Crime Scene Unit (CSU), K9 Unit, and Drone Unit. Together, they pored over surveillance footage and conducted interviews which ultimately led to pinpointing a suspect, a man identified as George Donahue, 49, of Connector Drive, Westborough. The arrest occurred on September 22, with police apprehending Donahue, who presumably lives near the scene of the crime.
Subsequent to Donahue’s capture, authorities carried out a search warrant on both his residence and vehicle. Further details on the findings from the searches have not been disclosed to the public. Donahue faced arraignment at Westborough District Court, whereupon he was remanded to the Worcester County House of Corrections. According to the police department’s statement, he is currently being held there.
The Westborough Police Department's social media post reiterated that "No further information is available at this time." It suggests that while there has been a conclusion to the immediate matter of the burglary with Donahue's arrest, the case itself may still be unfurling behind closed doors. Indeed, the work of law enforcement often continues far beyond the initial breaking news of an arrest, the details of such investigations typically remaining tightly sealed until due legal processes are underway.
