The National Weather Service in Washington D.C. has issued a forecast that spells a wet and potentially stormy week ahead for the region. According to the detailed forecast from the National Weather Service, the chance of precipitation stands at 60% on Tuesday, with showers and possibly a thunderstorm anticipated after 2 pm. Residents should expect mostly cloudy conditions with a high near 70 degrees and gusty northeast winds up to 26 mph.
As reported by the National Weather Service, Tuesday night won't bring much relief, with showers and thunderstorms likely continuing, accompanied by similar gusts of wind. Carrying an umbrella seems nearly useless in these windy conditions that may turn it inside out. The following day, Wednesday, will maintain the trend with an 80% chance of showers and a slightly cooler high near 68 degrees. The NWS's latest update also suggests new precipitation amounts of up to a quarter of an inch are possible.
The weather outlook doesn't show signs of letting up until Thursday, anticipating a partly sunny day with a considerable jump to a high near 81 degrees. However, the National Weather Service has also issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook early this Tuesday morning, specifically pointing to Gale warnings in effect through late tonight for areas from North Beach to Smith Point and from Cobb Island to Smith Point along the Chesapeake Bay and Tidal Potomac River.
The reminder of the week, stretching into the weekend, promises a reprieve from the inclement weather, with the National Weather Service forecasting sunny skies beginning Friday, with highs edging up to 87 degrees. While enjoying the outdoor activities this weekend, residents should not have to worry about the weather being a disruptor, with Saturday and Sunday both looking sunny and partly sunny, respectively, with highs comfortably in the high 70s. "No hazardous weather is expected at this time," as far as Wednesday through Monday is concerned, as stated in the NWS's Hazardous Weather Outlook.
