Heads up, Woodbury residents and those interested in the inner workings of city life: the Woodbury Community Academy is gearing up for its 17th run in 2026. According to an announcement made on the city's official website, this nine-week program is a joint effort with the City of Woodbury to give locals an insider's peek into how various sectors collaborate to sculpt the community.
The academy offers a unique chance to see firsthand the cooperation between city government, schools, nonprofits, and businesses. Starting in late January 2026 and wrapping up at March's end, attendees can expect Thursday night sessions, typically slotted between 6 and 8 p.m. However, space is a premium with a cap of 30 participants and an entry fee of $40 each.
One of the key motivations behind the program seems to be leadership development. Those who take part don't just gain knowledge but are positioned to actively contribute to Woodbury's well-being.
In pursuit of fostering an inclusive atmosphere, the academy's call for applications is broad. "Residents of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest and commitment to volunteerism are welcome," the city's news release said. The program's goal is to deepen knowledge about Woodbury's local public, private, and nonprofit sectors and spur volunteerism among its participants.
