South Dallas organizations aiming to uplift the community through human development now have a chance to apply for funding, as the South Dallas/Fair Park Opportunity Fund (SDFPOF) has opened its 2026 grant application cycle, as announced this Tuesday. Nonprofits eying new or improved programs that focus on key developmental areas such as workforce, small business, health, education, and public safety can send in their proposals for part of the $200,000 pot available this year.

The grant, which has been a part of the city's fabric since 1989, requires that applicants' programs either operate in the SDFPOF service area or serve a community where at least 90% of beneficiaries are residents, something that's in alignment with the fund's commitment to the neighborhoods around Fair Park—and since 2020, it has channeled over $2.7 million into the South Dallas area which is clear evidence of its longstanding commitment to the area's upliftment. Those interested can attend one of the two information sessions that the Office of Economic Development is hosting; the first will be at Park South Family YMCA on Thursday, October 23, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and the second at the South Dallas Cultural Center, Multi-Arts Room A on Thursday, November 20, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., as noted by the City of Dallas.

During these sessions, potential applicants can get an overview of the application process and have their questions addressed session provides interested entities an opportunity to engage directly with fund representatives, further smoothing the often-complex process of grant applications. Applications must be submitted by December 5 at 5 p.m., with around an eight-week window to hop aboard this funding opportunity.
