Arlington Water Utilities has recently shone a spotlight on the importance of water with their announcement of the 2025 Value of Water Mini Poster Contest winners. This initiative aligns with the national Imagine a Day Without Water campaign, which seeks to engage the public's thoughts on the indispensability of water to life and community. Arlington Water Utilities collaborated with the Arlington Public Library, River Legacy Nature Center, and the Tarrant Regional Water District to bring this educational competition to fruition.

Open from Sept. 2 through Oct. 13, the contest drew in entries from students across multiple grade levels to illustrate water's essential role in Arlington and beyond. A group of judges from the sponsoring organizations had the task of choosing one winner from each grade category, ranging from pre-kindergarten to fourth grade. "The winning entries illustrated how water is essential for Arlington residents and the environment in our city," according to the City of Arlington.

Each student winner was tasked not just with creating a visual representation, but also with describing their artwork and explaining why water matters to them. The winners of the contest were as follows: for Pre-K, Naomi from Wood Elementary highlighted how water keeps the city healthy; Kensli from Miller Elementary emphasized the necessity of water for the survival of animals and plants in Kindergarten; Adan from Wimbish World Language Academy depicted water's daily utility in First grade; Nathalie from the same academy noted the global connection water provides in Second grade; Brianna from Bebensee Elementary recognized water's role in sustaining all living things for Third grade; and Augustus from Mary Moore Elementary acknowledged the fundamental need for water in life and enjoyment in Fourth grade.
