Heads up, Atlanta drivers: if your commute involves Biltmore Place NW, you're going to need a new game plan starting this week. The Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) is putting the brakes on through traffic along a stretch of the road for some much-needed resurfacing work. We're told the affected area runs from West Peachtree Street NW to Spring Street NW, a block that's going to need to rest without the rumble of tires for a bit.
The detour details, if you're trying to navigate this patch of the grid, are straightforward but still, worth jotting down—because getting lost in the sauce of Atlantan roads is a predicament best avoided. Northbound travelers on W. Peachtree St NW usually swinging a left onto Biltmore Pl NW will now have to take a detour diving left onto 8th St NE, then a second left onto Spring St NW to get where they're going. The westbound warriors on Biltmore Pl NW will be rerouted right on W. Peachtree St NW, snagging a left on 8th St NE and another onto Spring St NW, and those heading south on Spring St NW, prepare to pivot left onto 5th St NE and yep, another left onto W. Peachtree St. NW to stay on course. Pedestrians can breathe easy; the sidewalks are staying put, open for foot traffic.
Like most things in the city, this isn't happening in a communication vacuum, and ATLDOT's doors are open for your questions or loud opinions about the whole situation. They’ve set up a channel for that kind of dialogue at [email protected]—if you find yourself needing some answers or just want to vent, feel free. Now, let's be patient and give those workers the space to do their thing, resurfacing a road can't happen with us buzzing by; it’s a break for the asphalt that comes with a little break in our routine, too. For those who need more details on the closure, the ATLDOT traffic advisory page published yesterday, October 30. has got the full scoop.
