The city of Brighton's very own Tyren King has been crowned the 2025 Colorado Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) Outstanding New Professional of the Year, in a dazzling display of early career achievement. King, who only began his tenure with the Brighton Recreation Center in October 2024, has already marked his territory as a crucial player in pushing not just swings but the very boundaries of recreation center improvements.
According to the City of Brighton, his award, which was handed over at the annual conference last week in Vail, celebrates young professionals who bring new energy and fresh ideas to the table. With his hands dipped in the improvement of the center's sports department and his feet firmly planted in the city’s 3Es Committee, which dances around employee engagement, his reach in the community is multifaceted.
King's leadership skills and inspirational presence haven't just resonated with the kids in the community or his peers; they've echoed through the hallowed halls of CPRA itself, where he also co-chairs the EP Committee tasked with the formidable job of professional development. After a year of his involvement, it seems King's contributions have been nothing short of a slam dunk for team Brighton.
"I am very grateful to be a part of the Brighton Recreation team, especially as a new resident of Colorado," King said, as per the City of Brighton, clearly indicating his enthusiasm for his role and its impact on the community. His job satisfaction stems from offering the residents a triple threat: health benefits, social connections, and a dose of good, old-fashioned fun. Shining a light on his positive experience, he added, "The leadership is wonderful and provides me with opportunities to grow in a meaningful and positive direction."
Parks & Recreation Director Travis Haines echoed King's sentiments, albeit about King himself: "We are incredibly excited to have Tyren as part of the Parks & Recreation team. He has been a great addition and does amazing work for the Brighton community," Haines stated, as obtained by the City of Brighton, confirming the integral role King plays in enriching the local parks and recreation scene.
