Houston is preparing for potential severe weather this weekend, with CenterPoint Energy expecting scattered storms bringing heavy rain and lightning from Friday night through Saturday morning. The utility has activated contingency protocols, including 24/7 monitoring and coordination with local emergency authorities, according to CW39.
CenterPoint's emergency crews are on standby to address any service disruptions, and the company encourages customers to use tools like the Outage Tracker and Power Alert Service® for real-time updates. "Our teams are staying alert and ready to respond safely and quickly if severe weather impacts our region," said Matt Lanza, CenterPoint's manager of meteorology, as reported by KHOU.
Tony Gardner, CenterPoint's chief customer officer, said, "Keeping our customers informed is a top priority, especially during severe weather," and "If outages occur, our Outage Tracker is the best way to stay updated with real-time information, including estimated restoration times. We're committed to open communication and working safely and quickly to restore service," as per KHOU. CenterPoint Energy said it has taken steps to reduce the impact of this weekend's severe weather in the Greater Houston area and encouraged customers to use the Outage Tracker, available in multiple languages, to monitor service status.
